Will spring every arrive? Left Port Orchard on Thursday May 26th and cruised down to Dock street in Tacoma in what has become the norm for washington, 50 something degrees? Its may and I think we have been over 70 just one time so far this year. At least we don't have hurricanes or tornados so mind you I am not complaining too much but it would be nice to see the sun for more than a few minutes each day.
From Dock street headed over to Gig Harbor where we kept running into people we knew. Saw Scott Duncan in the Marina parts store getting something for a kayak trip. I was just checking to see if their was anything I could not live without and thankfullky their was nothing in that category. Saw Eric Waters the next day, he was manning the fire department education booth at the Gig Harbor Scramble. Saw Paul and Genny Berlin, they were running in the scramble. Ran into Frank and Amy Sherwood from the club, they were heading out to south sound the next dahy. Guess we will have to come into the harbor more often so we can see old friends.
From the Harbor we cruised down to Penrose for Saturday night. It was crowded when we got their and it got even more crowded by early evening. I counted 18 sailboats anchored out and a couple crusers plus the dock was full up. Good low tide on Sunday had all the campers out digging for clams and beachcombing. We just kicked back, visited with Frank and Amy and their friends for a bit then enjoyed some sun.
Sunday we left about 2 pm for Longbranch and dropped anchor in a nearlyh empty bay. Two sailboats and the Modoc were anchored out and a club has the docks pretty full up but other than that thieir is nobody in the harbor which is rare. colder today, clouds and ti look ominously like rain inspite of the forcast for fair weather. Back to fleece and long sleeve.
We will mosy on north and towards home tomorrow. Maybe as far as Blake Island and then home on Tuesday.
All is working well, the new dinghy is great, it is a bit small but it rides nice and seems to be fast enough to make it worth the effort. It is a bit slow to plane with two people but it get there and is as fast with two as it is with just one on board.
